The Celcom vs Digi vs Maxis iPhone Package Comparison

I bet many are trying to compare and contrast among the 3 main telco's in Malaysia now selling the iPhone package. Well, look no further because I have taken the liberty of comparing the lowest packages available by all 3 telco's for you. Check out the schedule below for the comparison:

From the looks of it, Celcom seems to be offering the better package.  However, it remains a huge mystery when I made this comparison of what happens if you do exceed the 2GB data usage provided.  Also, Celcom benefits from lower charges for the 16GB iPhone 4 regardless of package, but I'd be extra careful on the monthly charges of RM98 which is a lot more expensive.  in additional to that, there has been rumors of Celcom's worsening service in both voice and data although no proof can be provided to date.

Regardless of that, Celcom now leads the race for 'the cheapest iPhone package', and with the iPhone 5 rumored to be released soon, the race to win the smartphone market in Malaysia just got very interesting.

Celcom iPhone 4 Package

Celcom Biz plan starts at RM98 with 2GB data
While most are contemplating the arrival of iPhone 5, Celcom has finally revealed they are now also offering the iPhone 4.

Celcom's website revealed that they are giving the phone away for business plan users for a low RM248 with a two year contract (Celcom Biz), while individual plan (Celcom Exec) users may have to wait a little longer until they release details.

Those interested can however register their interest to know more about the individual iPhone plan here, as I do expect the Celcom plan to rival both Digi and Maxis iPhone plans.

iPhone 4 DiGi Launch in Malaysia

The latest iPhone, which is the iPhone 4 is slated to be released by DiGi next week.  According to an email from the telecommunication company, data plans on the new phone will be also released next week, and those which have stated their interest will be the first to know more about the launch, the price and the DiGi package details.

Apple iPhone 4 Features More

Everyone knows how the Apple iPhone makes everyone excited. The latest addition, the Apple iPhone 4 revealed recently, promises new things which seem to be a step to the future. Here are the new additions to Apple's only smart phone:

Design and Size:
Without a doubt, the new sleek design of the Apple iPhone is something everyone likes. Add in the fact that it is thinner now, you have nothing but praise when commenting of iPhone's new design.

Retina Display:
Retina display is the by far, the sharpest screen display available on a mobile phone. Apple has boasted that 'Retina Display' would mean sharper graphical display on your phone. It goes at 960-by-640-pixel resolution at 326 ppi, which is far better than any phone displays at the moment. In ordinary words, you will not see 'sharp edges' when you enlarge a circle anymore.

Review: Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

The Xperia X10 seems to be Sony Ericsson's answer to Apple's growing number of iPhone users.  It boast of touch screen capabilities, Turbo 3G ability and GPRS.  Among the features highlighted are it's extended battery life and also it's beyond average camera.  Apart from that, the phone includes an internal memory of 1GB, with an option to add in a maximum 16GB memory.

Leaked New iPhone Images

A recent blog recently said that it has found a prototype of the latest iPhone.  According to the blog, the prototype iPhone was found in a bar, and Apple has since said that they are looking to get back the phone.

It is not known how true the reports are, but the images featured in the website looks very legitimate, and a couple of highlights on the so called new iPhone somewhat proves that the phone is indeed the new iPhone which Apple has yet to release.

If this is the new iPhone design, then I believe that many soon to be iPhone users are keen to wait for its new release which I think is very futuristic and sleek.

The DiGI iPhone Package

Apple iPhone enthusiast are all abuzz with Digi's latest advancement in making themselves an authorized dealer for the Apple iPhone. Most are very keen that Digi will offer much more value for better service, hence at the same time making Maxis iPhone deals seem a little wee bit expensive than ever. Well, their expectations were right, when this leaked information on Digi's iPhone package was released yesterday, with a direct comparison with Maxis iPhone package.

As you can notice, Digi is offering what Maxis is offering at double the price, and they are also offering the iPhone for a 24 month loan period for selected credit cards. This automatically makes the iPhone very much affordable to many.

Digi's official site has yet to release any pricing details officially, but the site now states that the iPhone will be made available for those whom have pre-ordered, while other users can get the iPhone from selected Digi Service Store after 3 April 2010 with limited stocks made available although I believe stocks will be made available through the year.. According to the FAQ, Digi is only offering the iPhone with contract, and to Digi customers. With that said, who want to enjoy the Digi iPhone package has to sign up with Digi.

iPHONE PRE-ORDER WITH DIGI

DiGi has allowed interested iPhone users to pre-order the phone with them since yesterday. Interested iPhone users can fill out the form here, and decide whether they would want to collect the iPhone during it's official launch which will be held in Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur and Penang. All 3 types of iPhones are in the offering and customers whom have pre-ordered are assured of priority when the iPhone is released by DiGi at the road shows.

The sell of the iPhone by DiGi signals better options for telecommunication consumers whom had previously had to bow to Maxis shall they want to use the iPhone due to Maxis having the only right and monopoly over the sell of iPhones in Malaysia. Knowing DiGi's fantastic promotions on new products, it would be very interesting to see how low DiGi does plan to sell the iPhone to their customers.

DiGi which just recently launched it's 3G services in Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Ipoh, Penang and Kota Kinabalu boast of its faster 3G Turbo network against Celcom and Maxis 3G networks. They are also the only company offering 700kbps download speed for their broadband at the cheapest rate in Malaysia and users of the iPhone stand to benefit more due to this. Regardless of that, DiGi's main weakness in the telecommunication segment of Malaysia remains at it's least widespread coverage among the 3 other mobile telecommunication giants, namely Celcom and Maxis.

Nokia Wants to Sue Apple

Nokia said that it is looking into suing Apple over the iPhone. According to a report by BBC News, Nokia claimed that it had not been compensated for its technology which is used by Apple in the production of it's iPhone. The report also claims that Nokia is accusing Apple of trying to get a 'free ride on Nokia's innovation'.

The issue has cropped up because Apple is said to be using innovations which Nokia has developed through an agreements with about 40 firms. The agreement therefore allows these 40 firms which include most mobile phone handset makers to use the firm's technology, but Apple is not one of the 40 firms.

Apple was unable to be reached for comment.
