Intel Launches Core-i Series

The Star reports that Intel, holder of the world's largest microprocessor in computers to date, has released it's latest Core i7-870 (2.93Ghz), Core i7-860 (2.80GHz) and Core i5-750 (2.66GHz). According to the report, the biggest difference between the Core i7 series and the Core i5 is that the Core i7 supports Intel’s HyperThreading technology while the Core i5 does not.

Customers wishing to upgrade their computer's to this new processor however have to be ready to pay a hefty price because not only does the processors come at RM2199 (at the lowest), but also needs a brand new motherboard to go with it, hence putting in the possibility of other new enhancements to be included for better performance such as a new RAM and Hard Disk..

These processors all come with an 8MB of Intel SmartCache, integrated PCIe controllers and an all-new LGA 1156 socket.
