DiGi Smart Plan Lite For Light Internet Mobile Users?

The New DiGi Smart Plan Lite
Digi launched their Digi Smart Plan Lite for subscribers wanting to have limited but cheap data service on their smartphones today.  The package which is believed to be aimed at less hardcore data users comes at a low RM33 for 300MB, which is half of the DiGi Smart Plan which comes at RM68 for unlimited usage.  Call, SMS and MMS rates remain the same with the initial Smart Plan.

Not much details are yet to be obtained, but it is believed that subscribers will have their speed throttled after exceeding the allocated 300MB offered by this plan.  Nonetheless, this latest data package will be much welcomed by internet savvy Malaysians, particularly those wanting to stay connected when they are on the go. More details available here.

iPad Plans from DiGi & Maxis

If you are planning to get an Apple iPad, two of Malaysia's major telcos are giving out the following plans for those intending to have data/internet access on their iPads:

  4. DiGi Broadband Discover Day Plan (RM38/month for 3GB quota). This is the best option for iPad. Only RM33/month when you sign up for autobilling. Full speed from 7am to 7pm (limited to 128kbps from 7pm to 7am, when you’re most likely to be on your home WiFi network).  Check it out here.
  5. DiGi MiFi (RM360 up front purchase for MiFi device, RM128/month for 16GB quota with rebates). This is the best option if you purchase the plain vanilla iPad with WiFi. You’ll be able to share access to DiGi Broadband with up to 5 devices, including your brand new iPad. Check it out here.
Note :
  • Existing customers can switch to an iPad-compatible microSIM for a one-time payment of RM20 from these outlets.
  • DiGi Prepaid, DiGi Easy Prepaid and Prepaid Internet microSIM are available for purchase at the DiGi Online Store
And as for Maxis customers, here's a better graphical detail for you since they already released the plans.
The Maxis iPad Prepaid plan

The Maxis iPad Postpaid plan
Choose your plans wisely.  One thing good to note is that Maxis has better coverage, but when DiGi says they are giving UNLIMITED DATA.. they really mean it, which is so unlike Maxis which has an unlimited cap on their data plans.  Both telcos have yet to say when they are actually going to sell the ipads, but we think it will be very soon.

Maxis launched the iPhone 4 in spectacular fashion hours before DiGi did, and many of you are now probably contemplating on which plan is the better. Well, here's a simple conclusion on which is the best.

Maxis Launches iPhone 4 iData & iValue Plans

It seems that the race for who will get the bigger share of the new iPhone 4 in Malaysia is heating up with Maxis releasing their iValue and iData plans for the iPhone 4 well ahead of their sole rival, Digi. I believe that Maxis aims to capitalize on those who are impatient in getting Apple's well promoted smart phone, hence leaving DiGi to the customers which are more patient in comparing Maxis and Digi iPhone 4 plans.

Kingston Introduces DataTraveler 410

Kingston has unleashed its Data Traveler 410 USB Flash Drive for Malaysian users. It is suppose to have a speedier transfer rate at 20MBps for read and write. According to news from The Star, the new USB Flash Drive will come in a maximum capacity of 32GB and includes SecureTraveler software which will provide users an option to protect their data with a password.

This new flashdrive succeeds Kingston’s consumer-level DataTraveler Generation 2, DataTraveler 101 and DataTraveler 112 drives which read and write speeds are only 10MBps, but for the ordinary flash drive user, the increase of speed does nothing significant to the original use of a flash drive, which is to store data for easy access.
